EMT Class Registration 7/31/17

July 31-Oct 30 Mondays 6-10 Saturdays 9-5

This program is designed to prepare individuals to take the National Registry of Emergency Medical Technicians (NREMT) certification examination. This is the test used by the State of Connecticut to certify EMT's.  This course emphasizes emergency skills, such as managing respiratory, trauma, and cardiac emergencies, and patient assessment.

Coursework also includes clinical time which gets you out of the classroom and into an ambulance working hands on with an EMT and a Paramedic. This valuable time working and responding to calls on our ambulances provide you with experience you can't get elsewhere! There is also time spent in the emergency room at Hartford Hospital.  The program provides instruction and practice in dealing with bleeding, fractures, airway obstruction, cardiac arrest, and emergency childbirth. Some of the goals of EMT interventions are to rapidly evaluate a patient’s condition, maintain an adequate airway, breathing, and circulation.  As an EMT you will also learn to control external bleeding, prevent shock, and prevent further injury or disability while expediting the safe and timely transport of the patient to the hospital for more definitive care.

Registration deadline is July 24th.
